A really nice alternative to port. I had this bottle served to go with my christmas dessert, Risalamande - went extremely well with the cherry sauce. I really like how this wine brings acidity into the picture + the low alcohol (only 14 % abv). Both nose and taste is dominated by sour cherries (probably because they use the danish varietal = "Stevnsbær"). There is also some hints of spices like vanilla, cinnamon and a little touch of cloves. The sweetness is there but it's beautifully balanced out with acidity.

The initial universal opinion was thumbs Down for this. Too acid and unharmonious and I can follow the critics even though I actually likes the acid attack. However after one hour and in a bigger wine glass the wine is transformed into a round wine where there is only a hint of the acidity. Celler for some more time and this will be a very good alternative to Banyuls and similar.

The wine looks deep garnet colored. The legs are slow and heavy. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like sour cherry/ raisin, oak, vanilla and garrigue. It tastes like cranberry, raisin, prune, sour cherry, oak, vanilla, tobacco and garrigue. The body is full. The wine has flabby texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity.

A great combination of intense cherries, sweetness, and tartness. Not as sweet as port, not as dry as Amarone. A Recioto is close, but the cherries make this something completely different.
