  • Evolved brick rim but still bright with a good core. Lovely pure nose, evolved silky aged Pinot nose, deliciously beguiling. The fruit is starting to drop out of the palate but still sweet and inviting. Finish drops away a bit but initial dry finish is starting to be covered as the wine opens up. Label says 13% but this feels a bit hotter than that. This bottle is streets ahead of the other two from the same case and is a proper expression of mature Burgundy from a fine vineyard in a great vintage. Happy VE Day!

  • slightly bricking color (overall, not just the edges), nose of decidedly oaky but in a caramel way (rather than just obtrusive raw oak)... palate is the same with a really nice mature mouthfeel -- smooth sweet caramel with enough grip to avoid being flabby, but frankly would have liked a little more fruit and/or secondary flavors... smooth, caramel and enjoyable but just not quite great
