LD Farewell Gathering (Upper West Side): A wine making style that seems consistent with Denis. This particular bottle was aromatically challenged upon opening. VA in an almost maderized sort of way. All those challenges went away with an hour in the bottle (open) giving way to a lovely village wine. Proof of what a more extracted style is capable off if allowed the proper time to age.

Aromas of fresh red fruit, earth and Gevrey animale. Tasted right after a 1990 Faiveley Mazis Chambertin, and quite surprisingly, this was fresher and more finessed. The Faiveley was more concentrated and structured, but this was quite impressive. Tart red berry and cherry fruit on the palate with some secondary leather notes. Very elegant with racy acidity and verve; quite amazing for a village Gevrey. Good length. Wonderful and my WOTN.

A very nice older Burgundy with plenty of black fruit still showing.

This wine is drinking very well despite its age. Not sign of bricking or fading at this point. Wonderful aromas of blackberry and red fruit.
