All oak right now and hot, hot, hot...as the abv at 16+ would suggest. That all said there is some nice stuff packed in behind the oak and smoke. Dark fruit, a good bit of acidity and a ton of structure that should carry this wine well into the future. To be fair, the winemaker did suggest giving this wine a considerable amount of bottle age to be rewarded...we will see. I have half of the bottle pumped and in the back of the fridge which I will revisit in a week to sneak preview what the future may bring.

Did not notice much of a change since my last bottle of this, but after 1-2 days, this wine really improved, with an even longer finish.

Decanted, then drank over 2 nights. Dark, dense, tooth-staining fruit. Spicy aromatics. It’s a bit chewy, but finishes smoothly. Nice drink.
