This the oldest Kabinett I’ve consumed, purchased at auction, so wasn’t sure what to expect.
Poured in a Zalto Universal. Yellow and white flowers, desiccated apricot, lightly bruised yellow apple, petrol, and white smoke waft from the glass. Great concentration and bracing acidity on the palate (and I mean this in the best way), with dried orchard fruit and a complex lingering finish of smoke, slate, and herbal tones. Very impressive, if this has taught me one thing it is to #ageyourkabinett.

PNP. Cork wet to top, and moldy from top down about 1/3rd. Nevertheless this has light straw color. Nose is TDN with onion? swishing shows good acidity balancing the remaining RS but everything has mellowed and is still citric. Sipping this shows clean citric smooth presentation. Served with acidic crudo this sh owed a hint of RS. If you like fruit and sweet pass this one by. If you have some the time is nigh. In my experience (n=5) there is some bottle variation and at least 2 of these have been funky. If I had any more I would drink soon

Oh no, my last one! It has great refrigerator storage life after opening (you can open it and it will stay fresh for quite a while). The cork seems to be the limiting factor on just how long the wine can last. Great wine!

Delicious. Petrol, flowers, peaches, lemon. A little funk is about all that gives its age away. Wow.
