  • Initially popped and poured a small taste and showed very tight, very lean body and not giving much on the nose. I figured it would put on more body with a couple days of very slow ox (cork back in the bottle after a two ounce pour). Day three it put on a lot of weight to become a rich and compelling wine. The nose opened to show sweet plum and blackberry, red raspberry compote, with cedar and black truffle aromas. It's still a bit primary with just the truffle showing secondary aromas. The palate is long, seamless, full of sweet tannin, and just simply delicious. You won't get that from a simple pop and pour at this stage. I'd sit on this for at least two more years expecting it to become a very complete entry level CdP.

  • Quite popular, traditionally vinified and widely available Chateauneuf-du-Pape for a fair price. 80% Grenache with for the rest Syrah, Mourvèdre and a lot of other allowed grape varieties. Needed some time to unfold in the glass. Medium fairly evolved color with quite a bit of tan. The aromas are dominated by the Grenache with ripe red fruit and a typical scent and taste I associate with roasted peanuts. In fact a wine for tasters who don’t like the more flamboyant wines of the appellation. This wine is ready to drink and should not be stored for too long.

  • I was surprised by this wine. I know this producer is known for making more restrained CdP, but I still expected it to be fairly big, ripe and somewhat sweet. Especially given the vintage. It was none of that. Smells like fig with some herbs. Mid weight, and surprisingly very dry. Crushed pepper, and earthy accents. I should have checked to see what the alcohol level was, but I didn’t notice it at all. I liked this.

  • A gift. It was a decent bottle of wine, not as big as I expected. I used my Coravin and drank 1/2 the bottle and then finished it about 5 weeks later. The wine held up and was enjoyable both times.

  • 2 bottles opened on Christmas Day with family. First bottle was ok but there was some fault with the 2nd. Smelt and tasted musty and tired. Shame because the first bottle was excellent.
