Purchased for $14. Now that the late fall is upon us, I've been looking to expand my Port enjoyment passed LBV and Vintage and into the Tawny style. I've enjoyed some 10 and 20 year-olds and colheitas, so I've been looking for an every night tawny. Since Taylor is my favorite Port house, I figured this would do nicely. Nope. Very medicinal with some distracting notes of oxidation/funk/maderization. Based on this, I'd rather pay another $15 or so to get a 10 year old. Grade: B-

WSET, Level 3 Advanced Certifcation Training; 3/11/2018-4/22/2018 (Texas Wine School at the Food & Wine Foundation of Texas, Austin, TX): Tasting sample. I didn’t realize I’d had this previously, much less impressed this time. Came across as being very young, fairly simple and definitely straightforward. It showed lots of upfront fruit, medium alcohol, and medium plus body. I just didn’t see the complexity, intensity or length I remember from my prior tasting. Seemed to be more ruby in style than tawny.
