Oof, the better part of a year in the cellar has not done this particular bottle any favors. Very tart, very sour. Still some cherry aromas and flavors with rustic charm, but sour to a fault. Maybe an off bottle? Tough to tell.

Vitis amurensis, a winter hardy variety from the Pacific Siberia, which does well in the Finger Lakes. The wine has a beautiful color, abundant tannin (unlike French American hybrids), and an agreeable aroma. In the mouth it is loaded with extract (as tundra berry fruits are), close to unsweetened, puckering pomegranate or cranberry juice. I am glad this wine is made and offered to the public.
My daughter rated it 88. It is beautifully made but it really should be rated on a different scale than a vitis vinifera. If you like POM, you should like this.

Big and unusual dry red with nicely aged tannins.

Finger Lakes Vacation 2017; 9/4/2017-9/8/2017 (Finger Lakes, New York, USA): Tasted at the winery. Spiced black cherries, leather. Medium(+) tannin, medium acid. Has a rustic feel to it. Well-built with good aging potential. "Very good-to-excellent," 90+/100.
