Hunter Valley - 4 Cellar Doors (Hunter Valley): {screwcap, 13.5%} A soft, spicy strawberry fruit nose in no way indicates the seriously savoury and textural nature of the palate. It’s light-bodied, with only low/medium dusty tannins, but it’s all earthy flavours, pepper, maybe a little sour cherry, but it’s not about generous fruit. Not unripe, but lean and tart and fresh. Medium acid. Rather old-fashioned and no worse for it, although I think it’s best over 3-5 years, not more.
