  • When I bought this at a tasting, I judged it as being a simple but very elegant lightly wooded chic European style (i.e., restrained) Chardonnay. It put me in mind of the outstanding Fromm La Strada I drank a few months back. However, while I am only on glass number two of bottle number one, what I feel like I am getting now is basically white wine. It's perfectly drinkable but entirely unmemorable. The oak characteristic for which I bought it is almost undetectable, and while there are some interesting fruity notes in the background, one has to do a lot of sloshing and snorting to bring them out. Perhaps my taste buds have been burned by all that slam-dunk new world stuff, but I am not really feeling it with this wine. To be fair, I think my expectations for Chardonnay are quite high. It's perhaps the grape I know best and it can be so variable. Let's see how the next bottle goes. I'd love to find that La Strada finesse at the sort of price this wine sells for!
