Classic Pinot Noir nose; nothing exotic, just a tinge of leather and tannins. The color is also classic Burgundy; this comes across as a textbook wine from the outset. On the palate, the seemingly generous fruit remains obscured by supple tannins. The finish is defined more by the latter than the former.

I often enjoy the Twomey Anderson Valley Pinots - under the radar for this brand, but they own some vineyards there and can capture the special nature of the Anderson Valley.
But this 2015 appellation blend is not a winner. Maybe a bit of Anderson Valley earth underneath the brighter California fruit, but on the whole far too tannic and disjointed to give much pleasure. Thin. None of the plushness you would expect from the brand. Though '15 was a "tough" vintage, many others from Anderson Valley and Sonoma are coming around nicely. Not so the '15 Twomey Anderson Valley Pinot Noir.
Update: better on Day 2 (half bottle Vacuvin'd). Still too tannic, but picked up some pillowiness that masks some of the unpleasant astringency from yesterday.

We opened this one up 2-hours before pouring, and kept it at cellar temperature. This is a very nice Pinot.
