Color is a transparent purple. The first smell was strong strawberries, but this fading quickly into non-descript red berries. There is a lot of dusty, musty basement in the nose. There is the taste of red fruits, pretty sweet initially but disappearing into the cobwebs of that musty basement. The finish is moderately long. Overall, a nice wine.

My first Gigondas. Nose was a little closed, but showed some tobacco and strawberry. For some reason I was expecting much more farmhouse dirt. This was quite approachable, very fruity and acidic - sour cherries prevalent, and the tannins were almost hidden in the back palate, but virtually undetectable on the attack. Then they came out with gusto on the finish, and became quite drying. Did not get the spicy, racy, earth-driven muscle wine I was expecting - but although not what I was expecting, quite enjoyable.

Deep ruby red. Earth, black currants, smoke and cassis on the slightly restrained but elegant nose. Nice fruit and balance on the palate-- sweet currants, mint, oregano and earth. Decent length on the finish, with a slight smokey quality.

Light-bodied, purple color. Earthy, rusty tobacco flavors with nice cherry overtones. Excellent, easy drinking wine.

Excellent wine. Great nose of earth, anise, currant, and wet rock. Nice balance and great feel. Finish is a little short, but that is nit picking.
