Decanted, needs about an hour. Deep garnet-black color with garnet-ruby edges, vivid in the glass. Concentrated & deep aromas of black currant & blackberry, pressed lavender, star anise, clove, smoked paprika, leather & tobacco. Expressive black fruit on the palate, refined with nice intensity, framed with integrated five spice, tea, floral and cedar secondary depth. Full density through the palate, rounded, showing finesse, with fresh integrated acidity and thick plush tannins. Finishes with nice length of zesty black fruit. Excellent.

Big fan of White Rock but this bottle did not show especially well tonight. Gave it a two hour decant and it was still a touch hot in spite of the chill it got. It improved throughout the evening so believe this needs a longer decant, four hours maybe. Be careful of the sediment. A candidate for the most I've ever seen (refer to the picture I posted of the last bit from bottle). With all that sediment I'd say the tannins are fully resolved so not sure how much longer this can hold on. Unless, unless this bottle is an outlier. Always possible. This is the first 2014 Napa Cab I've had in a long time that wasn't fantastic. It's good, just not fantastic.

Tasting at White Rock: Aromatics of violet, smoked paprika & dusty spices, currants, cedar and shoe-box leather - very fragrant. Broad and dense palate yielding core notes of melted iron, blackcurrent fruit, savory spices and dried florals. Firm and fine tannins, with serious depth on the finish. Excellent.

A beautiful integrated cab. Intoxicating bouquet and smooth mouthful of flavors, all in balance. Will get better for years.
