Deep golden in the glass. A fairly rich blend of candied orange, caramel, honey, dried banana and some Mediterranean flowers on the heavy nose. I know what you're really looking forward to - the taste. "Get to the fucking point, bruv". Mind you, this is not your ordinary sweet wine. It's a fortified one, where brandy is used to arrest the fermentation halfway. You're not supposed to chug it like Gatorade. But even with that fact in mind, this just comes off as too luscious, without a single instance of acidity to brighten things up. Medium finish, no real depth. Sad emojis. I'm yet to try a proper BdV. Any suggestions that will show me the light?

Bright gold / peachy colour. A huge nose of honey, oranges and you just know it's going to be very sweet on the palate. It's luscious, with a hint of spirit. Most would probably have this as a dessert wine, though the French would suggest it should be drunk as an aperitif.
