A brick ruby red color. Transparent and clean in appearance. Nose full of red berry fruit and a touch of smoke and sous bois. Over a few hours, it become more floral and a bit darker with blacker fruits and some spice. On the palate, this has a fine texture, with red and black fruits balanced against a core of acidity and integrated tannins. The fruit is ripe but a touch sour. Think a black cherry sour candy. A nice and fairly lengthy finish with good balance. Mineral driven fruit on the finish. All and all a nice village wine from a great vintage. Drinking now and fairly developed. Not sure it improves from here.

Saturday hangout (Chicago, IL): A very oak-heavy villages wine. It feels like you can taste the winemaking here, and the freshness of the fruit (in what should be a very fruit-forward vintage) seems lacking. It's the sort of wine that I compare to a dull thud.

Tasted blind, this was rustic, fruit has largely receded on the palate and the dominant note were raspy firm tannins. Lean. Guessed a Savigny Les Beaune from 2013...shocked to see a CM 15. In a hole at the moment I'd guess, wait a few years for the tertiary notes to flesh out.

A Tasting of Chambolle-Musigny Village Wines from the 2005 Vintage (San Francisco): Another ringer in a 2005 flight. Light ruby. Very herbal aromas. Intriguing mix of earth, fruit, and funk. Supple, smoky, long soil finish. This is essentially ready and more advanced than most of the 2005's we tasted today.
