Community Tasting Notes (4) Median Score: 91 points

  • This, my last bottle, showed poorly compared to previous bottles. The nose was led by black licorice with notes of mushroom and damp pine forest. The palate showed more of the licorice and a strong, rather unpleasant pine needle characteristic. Acid still dominated the finish but less stridently than before. The fruit could be fading - though the wine changed very little over 3-4 hours - or a lesser bottle.

  • Opened not decanted. Served at an offline. Quick notes: very light on the palate with a dry finish. Very subtle wine. Good.

  • Gorgeous nose of cherry cola and damp, rocky hardwood forest floor. The cola flavors dominate the full bodied palate. The finish shows lots of prickly acidity. Over a couple of hours developed black licorice aromas and a distinct pine needle note on the finish. Still needs another 2-3 to integrate that acidity.

  • Dark color with just a little ruby around the edge. A piercing nose of dark cherry, cola and dark earth. Nice round mouthfeel mid-palate. The finish still shows a little tannin and the typical Sonoma Coast acidity. Very fresh for its age and likely will continue to improve for 3 or 4 more years.
