Wow. Where to start. Deep color, lots of sediment. Blackberry, meaty nose. Beef jerky, pepper, ash, black raspberry and mint. Still very lively. An hour in is prime time. This wine still has years ahead of it. Excellent.

NOSE: aroma of rich blackberry, black cherry, and a hint of artificial grape flavor; also has an earthy component to it; seems like it may be holding back a bit right now. Very nice.
BODY: holy smokes is this a dark wine!! inky black/purple inky ink color of extremely great depth - practically no rim - I've never seen a cork as stained as this one; full bodied; full palate; medium amount of granular particulate matter suspended in the wine; a lot of sediment present for a 5 yr.-old wine; viscous in appearance foretells its lush mouthfeel.
TASTE: smooth; rich luscious blackberry with a hints of tar, smoke, and dirt brooding in the mix; full and seamless palate; maybe a tad too extracted; very nice. Will get better with short-term or mid-term cellaring.

Needed some more time to open in glass. Should have decanted for 30-60 min.
