Starting to show some aging in appearance, moving towards gold. On the nose, honey, banana/ripe peach, vanilla, cinnamon, touch of less. On the palate rich, round, full but very oak - with some honey - dominant. Not as rich as a ‘typically’ California but trending that direction. Surprising given the cooler climate of estate.

Great value! Funky and a bit off-putting when first opened. But that blows off with 30 minutes of air and a lovely, minimally oaked chard appears. Citrus and maybe asparagus on the nose. Citrus and melon and something a little bitter on the finish. It comes together well but may not be everyone’s taste.

WSET Diploma - South America (and a Tignanello!) (SF): Clear, medium lemon color. Pronounced aromatics of lees (cheese rind), slight struck match reduction, thiols (slight tropical fruit), peach, malo? (slight creaminess/butter). Dry, medium plus body, medium plus alcohol - feels 13.5% (actually 12.5%), strong medium plus acid (~7g/L TA) - strong and malo-influenced. Medium plus finish - not evolving.
Very slight cinnamon/vanilla oak on the finish - modest use of new oak.
It's a new world Chardonnay but with very minimal oak and not as intense fruit as California.
Very good example for the price ($18). Just a bit rich and sluggish on the midpalate.
