Wish I loved this wine more. To me, flavors were muted and simply not much punch. Nothing wrong here and clearly not tainted but the wine left me with a feeling of “meh.” Burgundy and I remain unreconciled.

My notes from April 2020 still generally apply. Ripe black cherry, raspberry, spice, smoke, and forest floor notes make for a beautifully darker and deeper pitched profile. Exquisite balance. There is heft and chewiness here, but it is tempered perfectly with an even distribution of weight and expansion. Still a little linear on the finish. Drink now with a few hours of air, or hold. Try again in 2025+ for additional complexity.
A succulent black cherry and wild berry core is flanked by a gorgeous array of spices and subtle forest floor notes. Youthfully driven but surprisingly accessible and unctuous, with a flavor expansion that delivers waves of black cherry and spice goodness from start to finish. Faint orange rind offers added interest on the back end. Pure and fresh, while also holding a darker, deeper, and more alluring profile that fully coats the palate and commands attention. Finishes with finesse and sophistication. A great example of flavor and focus. This will be amazing in 5+ years. 96++ points.
The Renardes is more deeply pitched and flavor-giving than its more straight-laced sibling Rognet. Both will benefit from some short/mid-term cellaring. The Renardes is already off and running, while the Rognet is still in the middle of stretching.
