  • Light, almost brick-red appearance. On the nose very complex and burgundy-like. This does not smell like a typical New World Pinot, but is restrained and very complex. Aromas of sour cherry, red berries, violets, some roasted & mocha aromas, plus dried spices. Wonderful, but you have to get involved. Present acidity on the finish, well-integrated, fine tannins, barrique used with restraint. Mineral components in the long, persistent and beautifully balanced finish. I like the wine very much, but it is not what I would have expected from a NZ Pinot. It feels much more like Burgundy than New World. No need to rush this wine, it has many years still to go.
