  • 92+ Not quite as enamoured as my first try at Australia Day '18, but this is still an exceptional wine. There is room for improvement from further ageing, however I like my chards vivacious and full of life.

Nosel: Captivating notes of cold, freshly cut ripe red apples, wet stone, subtle background of baking spice and rounded, beautifully integrated oak.

Pal: Broad, punchy baked green apple, earthy vanilla pods and subtle toast, high tones of wild earthy herbs (thyme). Racy, energetic structure with high acidity. Balanced and complex. A little savoury nutty/lees character is developing.

Fin: Toasty French oak/vanilla, spice and lingering creamy quality.

  • Clear pale straw. Nose is clean and medium (+), nose almost of a honeyed light scotch whisky. Sea breeze, minerals, honeysuckle, pineapple, vanilla, cedar. Dry with bright medium (+) acidity. Body is medium (+). Flavour is medium and palate has lemon lime, some tropical fruits and a creamy texture. Finish is medium. Wine is well balanced but acidity for me a little too lively now. Needs a few more years and would be interesting to see how the wine comes into harmony.
