Wasn't sure what to expect, but I really enjoyed this! It does taste quite Brunello-like…in a warm vintage. There was a ton of sediment on the bottom of the cork, btw. Very fun to drink and still has room to evolve nicely. Crazy value at $20 from Last Bottle. Excited to try the vertical of their Cabs that I bought form LB now, too.

Lots of junk in the bottle--ended up running this through a filter into a decanter before drinking, and glad I did!
Beautiful aroma that erupted as soon as I started pouring and was still evident an hour later at the end of the meal--herbs and red fruits, reminiscent of some Cab Francs I've enjoyed. More red fruit on the palate, with surprisingly fresh acidity for a wine twelve years off vintage balancing a hint of sweetness. Plenty of tannin that sticks to the gums, supporting a medium-length finish.
This is quite a nice wine! Food-friendly acidity, interesting aroma, and enough tannin to stand up to some fat; this was a solid pairing for some Neapolitan pizza. Given the sturdy tannins and fresh acidity, I don't think this is anywhere near its decline despite its age--drink or hold!

Bought three vintages of this wine through LB. I typically have not found Sangiovese in the states to be good/enjoyable. This was a wonderful example of the grape. I would have a hard time distinguishing between this and a good Chianti. The taste of age is there, but I think it can go a few more years.

This bottle showed more age than the last. Still good and enjoyable.

An elegant expression of Sangiovese. Some sediment on the cork, but clean and clear ruby rim. Light and juicy with lingering finish.
