Decanted for around 30 mins. Dark crimson color. Nose leaps from the glass with ripe blackberry, cassis, black cherry, purple floral notes, a bit of dark chocolate, vanilla, charred wood. No doubt Napa cab on the nose. Flavors carry through to the palate with a lush mouthful of ripe, juicy fruit and some toasty oak notes. Medium+ acid and tannin but smooth mouthfeel and finish. This is probably the best vintage of the estate cabernet I have had from Ehlers.

An opaque crimson blend of 87.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12.5% Merlot, the Ehlers Estate 2016 Napa Valley Cab presents a hedonistic package of dark bramble fruits, red currants, baking spices, licorice and creamy oak. Full-bodied, fresh and with nicely integrated alcohol (14.5%), it has excellent mid-palate density and a lengthy finish that flashes notes of graphite. This luscious wine is already drinking beautifully and should easily reach its fifteenth birthday. Drink now-2031.

Well balanced Cab. Not overly tannin heavy or too fruit forward.

Clean, floral aromas jump from the glass. Fresh flavors of blackberry and dark fruit. Soft tannins with a smooth finish. Very nice wine.
