  • Israel-tasting, flight 4, wine 3 (non-blind): A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. 14.5% ABV. The wine was dark ruby in colour and offered blackberry, plum, lovage, spices and some chocolate on the nose. On the palate, the wine showed ripe black fruit, black currant, black cherry, black cherry, bell pepper, some chocolate, spices and black pepper as well as herbal and vegetal notes, with ripe tannin and sufficient acidity to keep the wine fresh. The wine had good concentration and complexity and very good length. Cabernet as it should be! The most complete wine of all wines tasted today and my wine of the night!

  • Tzora, Misty Hills, 2015: While I immensely enjoyed its little brother the Shoresh, the firmer structure makes this one possibly the best Israeli wine for this difficult vintage. Dark inky purple in color. The nose shows ripe cassis, blackberries, Italian plums, black pepper, as well as notes of leather. Full-bodied, nicely extracted, with a fleshy texture. On the palate, notes of ripe black fruit, plums, graphite, black licorice, roasted meat and herbs, as well as notes of freshly cracked pepper and tobacco with medium acidity and firm tannins on the long and elegant finish. Well-done. 14.5% Abv. Drink 2020-2024, maybe longer. 91-92
