  • This first issue from the Boedeckers, from a tough year as well, is still excellent. Tannins are just starting to soften. No artifacts from the screw-closure, and I'm starting to believe it simply slows the aging process due to the tighter seal. This is a much bigger P/N than what is currently issued. Plenty of fruit, and an almost syrah-like richness. At its current aging rate it still safely has 5 years at least.

  • Tannins are just starting to mellow. A tough vintage, but this pinot has retained much of its cherry-fruit and oak notes without too much alcohol. Tough to call how many years are left- aging seems slower with the screw-top. No discernible effect from artificial stopper - much better solution over plastic corks.

  • Very tannic. Dark cherry with some oak and spice.

  • On it's last legs. Drink now. At first, fun cherry bomb. Then it died over time. Got kind of reductivey.

  • Had on Christmas eve, procured directly from winery. Starts with muted dark pinot fruit and a bit of reduction on the nose, common I find, with screwtop closure pinots. As it opens, the ripeness of the vintage predominates with dark red and black raspberry, cherry, and some earth, nice fuller midpalate with reasonable acids, and moderate length. Not as balanced as some vintages of Athena, but certainly plenty of fruit. Would drink before the fruit starts to fade, 3-5 years
