I find that the key to schrader is to slow ox. With air most become disjointed but stay beautiful with a slow ox. This wine really opened up at 3 hours. Full bodied and rich with nice acidty and some earthiness. There is a thickness which keeps it from getting a higher score

Decanted as this has tons of sediment. Blackberries, spice and some heat on the nose. Inky texture, purple black fruit, deep and moderately tannic. This is a large scaled wine that is richly extracted, with moderate acidity and while well made comes across as ponderous.

I typically love wines from Schrader. This was good but by far my least favorite of the 2016’s. I may just not be a fan of Las Padres Vineyard. Everything else from Schrader in 2016 was absolutely phenomenal such as the CCS and the original Beckstoffer To Kalon.
Oustanding wine. Moderately tannic on opening, could decant but does not need much of one. Excellent Fruit but so much more. I do not understand how anyone who appreciates CA cabs could rate it below 95 or so. Personal style preference would dictate whether to rate it 95 or 100.
