  We found this to be quite youthful still, with vibrant fruit, yet with a beautiful vein of complexity. Dark fruit, baking spice, and very fresh tobacco, with background notes of menthol and purple flowers, and some typical Rutherford cocoa. I think this has a fairly long life ahead of it based on its current evolution in bottle. Far better than their regular bottlings. Overpriced perhaps but that’s everything in Napa these days. Tasted delicious to us!

  Open in bottle at home for about 2 1/2 hours before re-corking and taking to restaurant. Decanted at restaurant before drinking. Beautiful but restrained nose, good fruit forward attack, nice mouthfeel and complexity, long finish. Perhaps a bit on the sweet side for some fans of Cab, but we all enjoyed it, and definitely not cloying. Only a bit of heat on the finish kept this from rating even higher. This was the wine of the day.

  Nice Rutherford Cab, but lacks several characteristics typical to wines from this area - light with herbs rather than dirt with chocolate. Far over priced at more than $200.

  First stop on our seventh day in Napa Valley is to the Round Pond Estate. Sixth wine up is their Cabernet Sauvignon The Vow from their Gravel Series. This vintage is made up of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged for 24 months in 100% new French oak.
  
  Purplish ruby red in appearance. Quite floral on the nose with jasmine, touch of baking spices, herbs, dust and red berries. Medium plus tannins (7.5/10) and medium plus body. Herbal attack on the palate with dark berries, gravel, spices and almost a bit green on the back end. Long finish. Not as heavy as the Secret Garden. Drink till 2030.

  A light nose with a hint of powder (ie rose and calcium). Heavy dark body with a lighter finish with some fryer acidity.
