  • probably less sweet than a typical German Kabinett. Tidy, floral, really vibrant and true to style. At first i thought the length was bad but it might have come together better on following days, and showed more non-fruit depth. 87-89

  • Lively and full of citrus - a delicious example of what the Fingers Lakes has to offer in terms of quality white wines. Certainly one of the more renown producers in the region, Red Newt offers a range that moves from entry level dry/semi-dry up through several single vineyard bottlings - they’re serious about their Riesling! The Circle Riesling was definitely off-dry, but well balanced and perfectly in keeping with the wine’s palate. Lemon, green apple, and white peach were initially present, developing into fuller notes of mandarin, pear, and golden apple with time. Candied lemon, green melon, and pineapple came through, contrasted by stark minerality and a smoky quality. Touches of fennel and steel made an appearance, while a subtle creaminess showed on the finish. The wine was not explosive nor overly complex, but it certainly delivered on flavour and enjoyability - particularly for the price. The sense of quality gave heed to what the region is capable of as well as where it’s headed, and certainly has me curious about those single vineyard offerings…

  • Nice little wine. Mildly sweet and tart green apples with maybe a bit of rockies, nice tangy acidity. Delightful aperitif, good value.

  • Finger Lakes Vacation 2017; 9/4/2017-9/8/2017 (Finger Lakes, New York, USA): Tasted at the winery. Soapy peaches, white tea, paypaya. Generous. Medium acid and a medium(+) finish. Fleshy in the mouth. Leaning to the sweet side at 3.1% RS but very enjoyable. Excellent QPR at ~USD$15/bottle. "Very good," 89/100.
