Definitely one of the more delicious Barberas I've had. I'd previously enjoyed the 2012 vintage a few years ago and really goes to show the consistency of Rocche dei Manzoni's style. This vintage shows great style, really old school, it has a slightly oxidative quality to it's acidity. Mostly fresh red fruit with some stewed black fruit. The oak and tannins are very well integrated, not very pronounced, a slight smoky and bitter chocolatey note to it. This wine is clearly made to be excellent Barbera as distinct as it can be from other styles in Piedmonte. Currently selling in Ontario for $35, it's probably one of the most expensive Barberas on the market here, but I would much rather this than a cheap Nebbiolo, though it really is a distinct style. Quite happy to drink it now, I'm not sure how long you'd want to lay it down for, but I'd be curious how past vintages have aged.

Floral violets, with grippy tannins and awesomeness. Red and purple fruits, almost new world fruit. Balanced acidity that the old world does well.
