  • This nicely perfumed Chardonnay offers up aromas of jasmine, peaches, pears and wet stones. Light-bodied, fresh, seamlessly alcoholic (13.5%) and with only a hint of oak, it delivers flavors in line with the nose and has good mid-palate density. The finish is crisp and lingers beyond medium in length. Since last being tasted 4/4/2018, this wine has picked up some weight and has lengthened its finish. As such, the wine's palate seems to be catching up with its already impressive aromatics. Excellent value here from this off-the-radar appellation! Drink now-2022.

  • Pulled and poured at about 12 degrees. On the nose there's a nice floral minerality. On the palate it's quite light, no obvious oak, a nice balance of the floral, light fruit, minerality and just a touch of acidity. The finish is of medium length and refreshing, rather than cloying (in the way that some oaked chards can be).

Overall, this is a very nice, smooth example of white burgundy from an appellation that was new to me.

And I picked up a few bottles at the bin-end price of about US$12, so I'm very happy with the value.

  • With only brief aeration, this light yellow Chardonnay offers a beautiful aromatic profile of pit fruits, pears, white flowers and wet stones. Light-bodied, freshly acidic and with nicely integrated alcohol (listed as 13.5%), it delivers flavors that mirror the nose but do not carry the same intensity. While this wine has a modest degree of oak exposure during élevage, it is not detectable in the finished product. Solid in the middle and medium in length on the back end, this is a well-priced white Burgundy from an underrated appellation. Buy it for its aromatics and be sure to serve it at cellar temperature (or above). Drink now-2022.

  • Domaine de la Garenne Mâcon-Azé 2015
    Code SAQ : 12178789

Longueur moyenne.
