Medium plus ruby. Pronounced aromas of sweet American oak and [unsullied] fruit: lashings of blood plum and spice. Opulent, but the fruit - even after 12 years - is very much matching and balancing the generous oak. On the palate it has medium plus acidity, medium plus tannin, medium plus alcohol and medium plus body. A real crowd pleaser, but not in a cheap, one-dimensional, BBQ wine kind of way - it's more of a well balanced, layered, big, juicy style which is still going strong and should go another decade. Hints of Vegemite - and in a good way. Can't say I have any experience with Mondeuse, but it seems to be the X factor here.

Fruity but heavy. Great with food but not so good afterwards
