  • Agree with the other tasters, an excellent example of an aged Napa Cabernet.

Nose is effervescent with layers of dark fruit along with tobacco, pencil lead, and red forest fruit.

Perfectly mature with tiers of black and red fruit—black cherry, plum, black raspberry, black currant and then melding into raspberry, cranberry, and faint strawberry mid-palette. Light oak and earthy notes emerge on the long finish that is satin smooth showing no harsh edges.

I would recommend only a short decant and also drinking this wine in the next few years. Acidity has faded, tannins resolved, I can’t see the wine improving much from now at age 15. Cheers.

  • At 15 years old, this wine shows the virtues of aging Napa Cabernet Sauvignon long before drinking such wines, especially for high altitude mountainous appellations like Howell Mountain. Full bodied, powerful, strongly structured, and richly fruity. But what comes only with adequate age is effusive aromas, great integration, a caressing texture, a seamless taste where each part of the taste perfectly fits together, complex secondary flavors, and multiple layers of tastes. Will remain eminently drinkable for another 5 years.

  • Wonderful smooth drinking wine. No rankings or acidity. Better as it opened up in glass. Light oak, dark cherries, light tobacco or smoke. Fruit is fading and wine is probably on downside of life.

  • Overall a very consistent impression from my last TN over 2 years ago, now just 2 years older. Wonderfully mature and drinking superbly but the tannins and acid are all gone thus would recommend drinking up any remaining inventory now - the fruit will start to fade. A very good and very mature limited production Napa Valley cab that remains a very good QPR at our price point. Deep purple with some peripheral bricking, medium - full bodied, soft & balanced, very well integrated, as noted above the tannins are now all gone and a shortening aftertaste. Nose dark and warm with dark cherry, cola and mocha. Primary flavors include subtle oak, cassis, dark cherry and blueberry with a hint of smoke at the end. Still a really beautiful wine, highly recommend this wine although as noted above needs to drink up any remaining holdings - this is on it's last legs at this level. This needs a bit of swirling and air in the glass but no decant needed.

  • The fruit is still surprisingly vibrant(mostly dark), but some secondary notes of tobacco and pencil adding complexity. This really demonstrates the best of what Napa cab can be with some age.
