W-S Friday Tasting - Blends (Auckland, NZ): Unusual nose - different than what I recall. Burnt banana, rust, burnt ham. Slightly green, but not notably pyrazinic - more of a generic weedy herbaceousness. Ripe on the palate, with elevated alcohol, good acid and tannins.

Murawai Area Visits with David (Kumeu, Auckland, NZ): Reticent nose with some blackberry fruit - darker fruited than the regular '09 Pinotage. Riper structure as well - medium plus body, medium plus alcohol, elevated acid and elevated tannins. Riper than the '09 with more nutmeg spice (oak). Slight herbaceousness: stewed tomato.
