  • While this bottle still has ample fruit, the heat is just too off putting to enjoy it much.

  • At 5 years of age, this wine is coming into a nice place. Definitely a darker expression for this label - lots of black fruit, scorched earth, anise and caraway seed. Big, bombastic fruit on the palette, but balanced with a healthy steak of acid. Black walnut, plum, and iron flavors throughout. The finish is broad and long and really blossoms with the mineral qualities. I wouldn't go super long term on this. Maybe up to 5 more years. Ready to drink any time.

  • Pinot Tasting for Mr. Love's Bday. First of 3 Pinots. Folks were split between Cal and Oregon.
Clear, pale Garnet with medium meniscus and viscosity.
Great, but not complex nose - primarily red fruit of Strawberry, Rasp and Cherry. Fruit showed through on the palate - was very balanced and fruit forward but elegant. Nose also had Rose and Vanilla. Overall had Med+ body which surprised us a bit. Med Acidity, fine medium tannins, with Med+ length.
Drinking well now but should have a ways to go.

  • Tasted during 1-3 hours in the carafe. The color is ruby red with slight purple on the edge. The nose has red plums, a bit of cherry and raspberry, and some hints of spice. The palate is hot (14.1% alcohol) with flavors of cherries and plums predominating. The acid, fruit, and silky tannins are in balance, but the alcohol intrudes. Clearly an Oregon Pinot: even 10 years old, the fruit is still the dominant aspect with little of terroir or minerality. Medium finish. Tasted in both a Zalto Denk’Art Burgundy and a Cashs Grand Cru Pinot Noir. Cashs decisively won over Zalto in presenting both nose and palate.

  • Willamette Valley Weekend Visit; 5/26/2018-5/27/2018: Tasting at the winery. Floral start with elegantly styled black fruit. Moderate weight and good mineral-esque textures. Good.
