  • I enjoyed more on the day 2 of my drink. more vertical on the mineral and acid side, almost not fruity with a nice perlage. good length almost salty.

  • 100% Furmint, aged for a minimum of 22 months in bottles before disgorging. Zero dosage.

Luminous lime green color. Slightly reticent nose with aromas of fresh apples, some yeasty autolysis and a hint of smoke. Bone-dry, light-bodied and lively on the palate with elegant and somewhat reticent flavors of ripe apples, lemony citrus fruits, some sweet-yet-tart flavors of grapefruit or pomelo and a touch of toasty autolysis. Very smooth and fine mousse and moderately high acidity give the wine good structure, yet keep its mouthfeel creamy smooth. The finish is palate-cleansing crisp with medium-long, lively bone-dry flavors of grapefruit-driven citrus fruits, fresh apples, some apple peel bitterness and a hint of yeast.

A lovely sparkling wine made in very clean, well-delineated and structured style. Stylistically this is a bit more to my taste than the Brut Classic, in which the dosage showed a bit too much, but on the other hand Brut Classic is otherwise more complex and impressive, which is why I prefer it over this wine. Perhaps my ideal Kreinbacher sparkling wine would be one made in Extra Brut style - showing the elegance and finesse of this wine with the slightly more complex and weightier character of Brut Classic. Overall this is very good stuff; a perfect aperitif and a nice food wine for lighter entrées or seafood.
