  I like this better than the previous bottle opened about 3 1/2 years ago. It has developed into a nicely balanced, medium bodied wine with notes of earth and spice. Smooth tannins. Mature dark fruits.

  This note applies to the Sentinelle version of the wine, so technically out of place here. This is a really intensely flavored drink. The writeup at https://madrose.com/producers/france/corbieres-minervois/chateau-massiac/ is accurate as far as it goes:
  'The “Sentinelle” cuvée is the more precocious of the two reds .... The tannins are suppler and the fruit a touch “sweeter”, more forward and less rustic than its companion. ... The blend is usually two-thirds Syrah and one-third Carignan.'
  It does seem completely high-class and without flaws, but the taste is so pronounced that I would urge trying a single bottle first (maybe everyone already does this, though not I always). Wonderful with the right (rich, spicy perhaps) food, otherwise just really strong.
