Youthful green color. Spicy oak character seems to be quite on the fore in the nose with some underlying, fruitier nuances of ripe apples, some yellow stone fruits and a hint of cantaloupe. The wine feels relatively full-bodied on the palate, yet with surprisingly high and balanced acidity. There are flavors of ripe yellow and white fruits, green apples, rich and sweet oak spice, some peppery character, light buttery notes and a hint of pineapple. Overall the wine feels quite oaky but pretty balanced. The finish is dry and oaky with long and pronounced flavors of woody spice, butter, some sweet yellow fruits and a hint of apple puree. The wine leaves a complex, quite acid-driven and ever-so-slightly mouthdrying impression on the tongue.
The wine comes in a bag-in-box, but it is surprisingly complex and balanced for a BIB wine. With its prominent, buttery oak character it really isn't up my alley, but I must admit that the oak and fruit are pretty well-balanced, the wine shows nice complexity and the acidity is pretty high, making the wine come across pretty harmonious. A positive surprise for a BIB wine, even though not one for my taste.
