2014 is drinking very well now. Tannins has mellowed, apparent clean palate, mineral backdrop, a wonderful concoction of cedar wood, heady musky perfume, soil, sweet spice and blue fruits. Medium to full bodied, lighter viscosity, elegant structure. This vintage is probably my favourite cuvée Violette. Delicious, characteristically and elegantly crafted.

Another bottle after 4 years. Violet and not transparent. Black current, blackberry. More concentrated, thick, medium to full body. More cabinet sauvignon dominated rather than cabinet franc.

I agree with Melvin about the greenness, but I liked it less than he did. My first Violette - I did enjoy the mouthfeel, an attractive combination of plummy body with peaks of dark cherry and strawberry, but this was marred by an underlying bitterness coming from the unripe fruit - I'm guessing the Cabernet Sauvignon, since the Cabernet Franc cuvée is a lot riper. Of the three 2014s, by far the least impressive.

67PM supper: Reminiscent of a Bordeaux from yesteryear with a little brett and without any glossiness to the wine at all. I liked the restrained cool fruit but it was not universally popular at the table as most thought that this was overly green. Good value.

Strong perfumed notes of typical cabernet franc green pepper, nice medium body, with decent length and good finish. Recommended at this price.
