Very Burgundian initially on the nose, very floral, but more black fruits developing as time went on. Also burning embers and gravel. Great plum and blackberry burst on the palette, with the same minerality, embers, charcoal. Also some iron. Still a little tannin despite being an 18 year old second label.

90 minute slow oxidation. Medium ruby fading to a medium garnet outer edge. Very elegant, almost Burgundian-esque upon opening where the warmth of the vintage really comes to the fore with ripe, slightly sweet red fruit and red berries. With time the wine started to show more black fruit characteristics coupled with iodine, graphite, charred embers, and herbaceous qualities of pine and eucalyptus. Hugely impress for a second label and capable of ageing for many, many more years.

Nice second label. A lot going here. Really powerful and vibrant, but age has been nice to this one. Earthy nose, some black fruit, red beets popping through a little bit. Complex dark fruits on the palate, soil, prune, and huge black olive finish. Might be getting a little over ripe on the fruit but great mouth feel and texture, long finish. You can taste the black olive for minutes. Not as new world as a lot of the 2003 Bordeaux wines I have tried. Overall I liked this one, and think it is ready to drink now. *decanted in the glass 1 hr+

Wonderful. Bouquet underwhelms. But redemption on the palate. Drinks like a first; and handles the 2003 heat wave vintage with aplomb. Dark fruit, well structured, long powerful finish. Excellent value.
