This full bodied 100% Malbec displayed a deep Garnet color while pouring, had rich tasting fruits & a nice balance between the acidity and the firm tannins. Cheers to Erica & Scott.

As one of the five classic Bordeaux varietals, Malbec is typically used for blending but has become a popular stand-alone. Dry Creek Valley's diverse micro-climates allow this grape to mature and develop its intense characteristics perfectly: an inky, dark purple color alludes to the deep concentration of this full-bodied wine. Aromas of lilac, Damson plum, cedar, black cherry and caramel develop similarly complex flavors. Firm tannins grip the finish as the tasting experience lasts on your palate.

14.3% abv. 251 cases. Recent auction purchase. Seems to be in a primary stage at this point, but starting to shed some baby fat. Nice use of oak- supporting, not dominating and integrated in short order while in glass. Still, some coarse tannin present. Really appreciate the honest varietal character exhibited here. Could’ve use a touch more acidity, but was pretty well balanced overall. If I had another bottle (I don’t), I’d wait 2 - 3 more years on it. Addendum: this bottle had a black, synthetic, recyclable cork. It seemed to be quite secure, but not sure how this might affect longer term storage.
