Glass closure. Garnet to brick red and orange in thin layers. It starts with honey notes, acacia honey, much more reminiscent to an sweet white wine than to a dry red. Within some minutes blackberry jam occure. On the palate honey, concentrated blackberry jam, bacon and smoky notes. Smooth with round, but still noticeable tannin. Special style indeed, but not meeting my expectations given the score from the WA (95) and a drinking date from 2035 to 2065. This bottle seemed to be on a fast evolutionary track to me. 5/11/16/9. -2028

Light brick-red color. A complex taste, notes of various berries dominate. Super smooth tannins. Long aftertaste. I agree with the previous taster that the style is quite unusual, but the outcome is excellent - so yummy!

A private dinner (Grill & Wine Bar, Hotel Burg Schwarzenstein, Geisenheim, Germany): Semi-carbonique fermentation delivers a very gentle wine, juicy and very approachable, with very mild tannins, floral and with ripe cherries and crushed red berries, hints of spice and undergrowth, good length. It’s a slightly unusual style, but it works well.
