Upon opening a bit of deeper fruit but no finish. After a 2 hour decant, the wine had brighter fruit, leaning towards deep strawberry, and the finish had developed. Drink now.

As an expat Aussie living in Seattle this was one of my goto wines I would regularly see in the Pacific North West in the last 5 years at good restuarants and wine shops (especially at Whistler) in their Australian Shiraz section. I always paid way too much for the bottle given I knew I had added it to my cellar in 2006 for $30 per bottle but was never left dissapointed, given my distance from home and my hanker for the spice and jam of a good Aussie Shiraz.
Fast forward to drinking my first bottle on home soil. I decanted this (No sediment) and my intial notes where that it was a blandathon, but be patient. The nose is mild and late but is sulphar, earth and stuck match. The taste is a a short sharp jammy blueberry bomb that falls away quickly to more eathy and mineral notes. This wines strength as others have noted is its beautiful balance and great finsih, which get longer the more you let it decant. The tannic balance and length is delivered at the cost of the Shiraz spice that I like and remember in this wine.
Give this wine an hour in the glass or decanter and you will be much happier as the finish and balance shine through and the mineral earthy woody notes start to dominate the strong fruit more.
HURRY and drink this now.
