Bindi Cuvee V Chardonnay and Pinot Noir (Bindi Newsletter June 2012)

A blend of 1993 to 2000 vintages with the reserve wines matured in barrel. This wine has been matured for ten years on lees in the bottle. It is bright and youthful in colour, with some gold developing. The nose is deep and exotic, flinty, has honey, toast and brioche aromas with floral scents. It is complex! The palate is rich, creamy, earthy, very textured and very, very long. The complex flavours and textural nuances linger and evolve beautifully. It is a wine worthy and capable of matching flavoursome white meat dishes.

Seems a little oxidized. I suspect this wine is just too old. What I wrote off as a pure cork problem in the previous bottle was obviously not just cork alone, as this non-corked bottle was still fairly similar.

Cuvee V Chardonnay/Pinot Noir NV (Rathdowne Cellars Oder Form)
Macedon Cuvée V has been maturing on lees for over four years. It is a blend of 70% chardonnay and 30% pinot noir from the 1993-2000 vintages that has gained excellent depth with this extended aging and has received a very small dosage at disgorging. It is a yeasty, spicy, exotic and earthy wine showing richness, tightness and minerality on the palate.

Very upfront with bread/yeast on the nose, fairly good depth of flavour but the sourness of the wine at the end is jarring and unpleasant.
Would not buy again.
