Like the two reviewers that preceded, we were very pleasantly surprised by this wine. Initial nose of "sweaty socks" - my wife's words - blew off quickly and I really enjoyed smelling the wine. Medium body with barely a trace of tannins. Easy to drink, paired well with turkey lasagna. Like the others, would buy again to have a couple bottles on hand.

My first Pinotage; I liked it a lot. The nose was pleasant and VERY powerful -- it completely filled the room with scents of dark fruit and earth. It was very fruity and 'adequately' drinkable immediately after opening, but it had a somewhat rough and VERY dry finish. It opened up considerably after 1-2 hours of decanting, trading a bit of fruit for some earthy and vegetal flavors (but only on the mid- to late-palate: the initial explosion of fruit remained). The specific flavors eluded me: they were very interesting and quite good, but were unlike anything I could recognize. The initial explosion of fruit seemed very sweet, but everything after that -- especially the finish -- was dryer than anything I've experienced before. Ten minutes after finishing the final glass, my mouth was _still_ puckered from the dryness.
Overall, a very interesting and different wine. Unexpectedly great value, and seems likely to have excellent aging potential. I'll definitely buy again -- except next time I'll get more than one bottle.

Needs to open up
Been buried in my cellar for years so I thought we would give it a go

Leather and barnyard nose, phenol dominates the palate at first, softening with air. This is an unusualy earthy wine.

Also my first pinotage. This wine was better than I expected. Medium body with cherry fruit and oak. I would buy again.
