Sunday evening at Wimborne. Drank in Grassl Cru. Aired quite a while in bottle already. A fresh sample from sealed container I tasted later was actually more reductive and closed. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose medium+ intensity, with aromas of red cherries, strawberries, raspberries, red spice. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), fine medium- tannins, medium body. Medium flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet red cherries, strawberries, raspberries, lick of Vosne spice. Medium finish. Good quality. A correct wine, but otherwise seems quite uninteresting at this point of time.

2015 Vosne-Romanée Village Blind Tasting (Chicago, IL): Single blind. Bigger, non-delineated nose of abundant, rich black cherry with Vosne spice. The palate is immediately chunky with a cross section of black and red cherry that is impressively deep but clipped and abrupt with a firm finish. Needs a decade+.

2015 Vosne-Romanée AC blind (Chicago, IL): Served single blind in a flight of 2015 Vosne-Romanée AC. A decent wine, if a bit non-descript. The palate mostly checks all the right boxes, but this also seems just a little bit closed down right now. Good fruit, a touch of spice, no overt oak, but alas, nothing here that really excites me either.

Lovely dark fruit and a rather soft plum mouthful. Polished and smooth, but lacks the umpf to make it interesting. Good but not great.

A bit difficult / not a charming wine. Missing some elegance and minerality , perhaps closed down....Only this bottle of this wine.
