Observation consistent with notes below. Many Gigondas producers choose to bottle their wines with little or no oak aging. While this wine is an explosion of plum-like fruit, I'd love to see what it would be like "seasoned" with a touch of oak.
1st tasting (8/28/2019) — I have a tough time giving any of the Gigondas I've tasted from the 2015 & 2016 vintages less than 90. They are consistently full of color, flavor and a unique Gigondas characteristic that reminds me of home-grown, cured and cooked bacon on top of rich, berry fruit. While this is a negociant wine, it falls within these parameters. The wine is most likely the product under contract with a small producer named Domaine Varenne <http://domainevarenne.fr>.

Luscious, red cherries kick things off and stick with you. The wine is medium bodied, sweet and lively. You can drink this blend of Cinsault, Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah now. The fruit is always 100% destemmed.

Weak! Where’s the harnaché?! Disappointing! Very devoid of flavor.

Gigondas typique, rien d'exceptionnel, mais savoureux. Après quelques heures, note intéressante de tabac dans le verre. Couleur grenat.

Glycerin, sweet cherry, milk chocolate, cigar tobacco, and herbs in this mouth and glass coating, delicious juice. Drink now or hold.
