Extremely disappointed! A premier cru should be wayyyy better than this. I would not recommend to anyone buying this wine. $25 Napa pinot noirs are a significantly better buy.

Popped and poured. Opens up to a brooding and dark style. Deep dark fruits of plum pie, over ripe strawberry and black cherry lay the foundation to this rich Burg. Despite the richness, there's plenty of nuance with a distinct turmeric note and gamey elements of fresh duck breast. High toned nuances of lemon thyme and mint round out the picture. This is a big wine and is clearly young but showing all the stuffing to benefit from cellaring. It reminds me of a beefy Willamette Valley Pinot like Archery Summit. In fact, compared to those wines, this is a steal. Day 2 it's still singing without any sign of droopiness to the fruit. The shortness of tannin worries me a bit for long term cellaring. But the acidity, fruit, length on the palate, and overall character offer a fantastic value albeit modern in style. Day 3 the aromatics are intoxicating. Much more high toned fruit of ripe strawberry and cherry pits, a touch of cedar, vanilla bean, and forest floor add to the complexity. The palate is still relatively fresh with very good acidity. I'm thrilled with this wine. Could age for a decade or more.

Good crunchy freshness with enough non fruit complexity to make it somewhat engaging. Nice value.

Redolent of a sweaty horse fed with organic alfalfa.
