Independent, pure and quite faultless, Gut Oggau wines should convince the conventional wine drinkers that there is an exciting alternative out there. From the 3 wines we tasted together with Eduard Tscheppe via ZOOM, the Joschuari is probably the most serious wine in the context of fine wine in the lineup. We were convinced by a bouquet of sour cherries, lots of chalky, dusty minerality and some sweet lime. On the palate its not about power, but structure and balance. Even without the immediate punch, it manages to linger around for quite some time. I'm convinced, that this wine will benefit from at least another 5 years in the bottle and should be enjoyable for 1-2 decades. Reminded me of a colder vintage in the northern rhone (e.g. St. Joseph or Cote Rotie).
