Was curious about the 2016’s so popped a Mixed Blacks since these are always one of the better early drinkers to me. Darker fruits and some tannin on pnp but they integrate quickly. After an hour or so this is drinking really well! In a good spot - feel free to drink or hold for the shorter-term.

Lots of mixed fruit flavors on the tip of the tongue—think the best grownup punch you’ve ever had. It’s funny, from the name, Mixed Blacks, I would have expected dark fruit dominance. Again, though, I get a combination of blackberry, red raspberry, red plum and, maybe even, apricot. Mellow mid-palate herbal sensations—basil, mint, parsley. Acid and tannin are, pretty much, resolved. While this is a sturdy red wine, I don’t consider it to be massive. However, it is a very satisfying and much more than pleasant wine

A bit raw and unrefined but still very tasty. Dark fruit profile and some hints of licorice. Nice tannins that leveled out after three nights. Lacks “smoothness” at this stage. Might get a bit more harmonious in a year or two. Tasted great with warm chocolate chip cookies!

5 hour decant. Quite dark, smoky/earthy nose. Some sweeter red and purple fruits, Syrah like savoriness playing with the fruits, fairly tannic still. Fun to check in, but still needs loads of time.

Decanted for two hours. Really nice blue and purple fruit. Softer tannins than I typically find in mixed black blends, but still good structure. Nice depth and lasting finish.
