  • I find this wine accessible from the get go - no need to decant. This wine is a dark, almost opaque red. On the nose, it is smokey and a bit of tar with dark berries. The wine is full bodied with some acidity and heat at the end, but generally I would say this is a very smooth drinking wine with rounded tannins. On the tongue, it is well balanced, with a bloody texture and taste of strawberry, candied fruit and spice (black pepper, for sure) and with medium length. It is in its drinking window now, I’m sure it will remain solid another 5-8 years but I doubt this will improve with age. It is one of my absolute favourite wines to enjoy with bbq food. And, since I love barbecuing these kinds of wines fall close to my heart. Great QPR, but only one bottle left....
